my name is Anselm Weber and I am a 24-year old organizer running as the sole Democrat for Florida House District 76. I am running because I am fed up with the way things are handled in Tallahassee. Before COVID-19, Florida had a 13% poverty rate and 56 % of renters were spending 30% or more of their income on housing. The state minimum wage is 8.46$, which is almost half of what a living wage is for Florida. Now with the harshest economic recession since the Great Depression, Florida is in desperation mode and we need people in office who will fight for working Floridians.

  • I am a grassroots funded candidate backed by no special interest.
  • I have worked low paying jobs in fast food and know how hard it is to make ends meet working paycheck to paycheck.
  • I do not care what the issue is, if working and poor Floridians are struggling, I will fight for whatever makes life easier for them.
1. I believe we need universal healthcare for the state of Florida. During a pandemic and the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, thousands of Floridians are losing their healthcare as it is tied to their employment. This is a crime, especially during COVID-19. We need to fight for universal healthcare for Florida so now one is forgoing essential medical needs simply because they can not afford the out of pocket costs.

2. Since 2001 in Lee County, the cost of rent has gone up 19% while wages ave only gone up 4%. That means we have un-affordable housing with underwhelming wages. We need to expand affordable housing and increase the minimum wage to a living wage.

3. Our water is constantly under assault in my district. the nitrogen and phosphorous that runs off from farms seeps into Lake Okeechobee which then flows out to Southwest Florida's coastline, resulting in toxic blue green algae. That is why I want to reform the Clean Waterways Act to properly manage the runoff going into Lake O', sequester the carbon, phosphorous and nitrogen from farms using carbon farming tools, and bring a Green Jobs Initiative to stimulate our economy all while combating climate change seeing that Climate Change will result in hundreds of billions of dollars in damage to Florida.

I favor one that is proportionate for a given population, not based on gerrymandering.
