2016

Bouchard's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Ability To Look Ahead

  • In 2012, I sounded the alarm on plummeting Natural Gas prices, warning that we must reign in spending.
  • I am the ONLY candidate in Senate District 6 that warned of the coming downfall.

Role Of Government

  • Traditional "tax and spend" policies undermine government's first responsibility, which is to protect the right of the people to be free to live their lives without having to beg for permission from government bureaucrats.
  • Instead of spending all of the money during a cycle (for the purpose of requesting a larger budget the following year) we need to create incentives for department heads to lower their operating costs.
  • I am the ONLY candidate that will fight for less bureaucracy.

Corrupt Politicians

  • I will stand up to the corporate interests that control the Wyoming legislature. During the current biennium, the governor and key legislators approved more than half a billion dollars in contracts that did NOT go through a competitive bid process. This 'crony' system must be ended.
  • I am the ONLY candidate that will NOT take money from special-interest-corporate lobbyists — nor will I carry their water.

Unnecessary Capitol Renovation

  • We have entered into Capitol renovation contracts that we just cannot afford. To put it bluntly, Wyoming needs to send 'thinkers' to the Capitol.
  • It all started as a minimul endeavor to bring the Capitol “up to code.” Now this project has evolved into a Legacy-Monument to the executive branch and certain legislators with a $300 Million price tag. 80% of these contracts were ushered-in using nonbid agreements and change orders.
  • As with most government projects of this stature — this renovation could be riddled with massive cost over-runs, at a time when Wyoming is in a serious economic down turn.
  • I am the ONLY candidate that will work to end these callous practices.

Faulty Budget Process

  • The Wyoming Budget should be developed using a process that is more effective, deliberative and accountable. We are literally in a mad rush during the 'budget year' — at minimum we need a cap on suplemental budget allocations in non-budget years. Additionally before we throw more money at an existing project, we need to question the necessity of the project to begin with. (If there isn't a true return, cut the losses now)
  • I am the ONLY candidate that will fight to change the current rush to over allocate funds.[8]
—Anthony Bouchard, [9]

2010

Bouchard's campaign website listed the following issues:[10]

  • Proper Role of Government
Excerpt: "I believe that both the Wyoming and U.S. Constitutions clearly define the very concept of limited government. I also believe that the government’s primary role is to protect our personal freedoms so that individuals can reach their highest potential. ...More spending just means more government, more government means less freedom."
  • Jobs and Economy
Excerpt: "Nowadays it seems politicians think it’s the government’s job to pick the winners and losers. But history tells us a different story — it’s ordinary individuals that raise their own capital and build businesses by the sweat of their brow that have made America great. In all decision-making we must adhere to these same free market principles."
  • Gas Tax
Excerpt: "If elected as your state senator, I’ll never vote for a tax increase. I’ll introduce and aggressively push legislation to lower the current tax burden on Wyoming’s hardworking families and businesses."
  • Stop Obama-Care
Excerpt: "If you elect me as your State Senator, I will fight diligently against the bureaucratic takeover of the healthcare system."
  • Education
Excerpt: "Future generations could be severely impacted by the curriculum being dictated by Washington DC bureaucrats. Control of our classrooms belongs here in Wyoming and not in some office 1600 miles away. ...I do not support — as some liberal legislators have — changing the office of Wyoming superintendent of public instruction to being an appointed position."
  • Family Values
Excerpt: "Raising families has become even more difficult due to economic conditions. In addition to defending traditional family values we need to be tough on criminals and reduce tax burdens on families. I will stand firm in defense of the family and I will diligently protect the sanctity of life."
  • Second Amendment
Excerpt: "If elected as your state senator I will continue to defend the Second Amendment and your God-given right to self defense."

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Wyoming

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
