Anthony Cardona
Anthony Cardona is a former presiding justice on the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Department. He was designated to the Appellate Division on September 8, 1993. He was appointed presiding justice on January 1, 1994 and reappointed on January 1, 2005.[1] He retired at the end of 2011 due to reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.[2]
Education
Judge Cardona graduated from Manhattan College in 1962. He then joined the Navy and served in the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1967. After this, he attended Albany Law School and earned his law degree in 1970.[1]
Career
Judge Cardona practiced law for 14 years before becoming a judge. During this time, he worked part-time for 2 years as an attorney for the Albany County Public Defender's office and also served as a Law Guardian in the Albany County Family Court. In 1985, he became an Albany County Family Court Judge. He was then elected to the Supreme Court of the State of New York. He took office on January 1, 1991 and was re-elected in 2004. In January of 1992, he was appointed Administrative Judge for the 3rd Judicial District. He served in the Appellate Division until his retirement in 2011.[1]
