I'm the guy who caught the Bucktown Creeper.
  • Crime: Chicagoans are suffering under an unprecedented violent crime wave, the Safe-T Act is seriously flawed. We all need safe streets.
  • Educational Choice: the achievement gap has widened under Covid shutdowns and the families of Chicago need access to quality education immediately.
  • Pension reform: the state has been saddled with untenable pension debt. We can't go bankrupt, but we're nearly insolvent and that doesn't benefit anyone.
I'm probably most passionate about education reform. Education is opportunity - and when children and families can't access the best education because they live in the wrong zip code or behind some invisible line, it offends me. If a child is willing to get up early in the morning and ride the bus - he or she should have access to the education.
I look up to my son, Inigo, he's 6 foot 1 - a solid student and a great athlete. I follow the example of Fr. Hillary Mahaney - he's probably the smartest Irishman I know.
A state legislator must be ready to give the best representation to the most constituents - and work to ensure honest and accurate reporting of the state's affairs.
My children insist that I rode a dinosaur to school, but I don't recall it. I would've been six.
Our fiscal house needs to get in order. It's a national embarrassment.
On the plus side, you'd be in Nebraska and you could get fresh chops. The downside, if the Huskers aren't winning, it's a long winter.
Yes. If you can't find common ground with those around you, you'll have a very hard time accomplishing anything.
Shortest straight-line districting.
If drafted, I will not run; if nominated, I will not accept; if elected, I will not serve.*
Daily I hear stories of residents who've been victims of crime. Each time, I'm upset that someone would have so little respect for another that they would victimize another. And there's no reason: meals, shelter, transportation - are all available. Chicago has always been ready to help.
Yes. We've been under emergency powers for two years now. It's ridiculous.
