Diecidue earned his B.A. in Biology from Mansfield State University in 1977, his M.S. in Microbiology from The Catholic University of America in 1983 and his Doctor of Optometry and bachelor’s degree in Optics from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1987. His professional experience includes working as optometrist for Eye Associates of Monroe County since 1989 and as the CEO & President of Mountain Computer Systems.[1]

Health Care & the Economy

  • Excerpt: "Anthony Diecidue’s experience as a doctor gives him the experience to understand and address the problems in the system. There are many important decisions about health care that are made at the state level. And yet there are only # [sic] doctors in state government. Our health care system is in further jeopardy in the years ahead and it’s potential to drag our economy down even further means we must act."

Property Taxes & Education Funding

  • Excerpt: "There are a number of noteworthy proposals gaining traction in Harrisburg that aim to break the cycle. Our current system is overly reliant on property taxes to fund education. When you consider that a home is the single largest investment for the average family in Monroe County, the system is inherently unfair. In the proposed 2014-2015 budget Philadelphia will get $984 million from the state, and Stroudsburg will get $12 million. That translates to over $7000/student in Phila. and roughly $2000/student in Stroudsburg."

Remaking Our Economy

  • Excerpt: "Dr. Diecidue has laid out two priorities for remaking the economy of Northeast Pennsylvania: 1) Support homegrown businesses and entrepreneurs, and 2) Compete for higher-skilled jobs that can sustain families."

Elections for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 11, 2014. Maureen Madden was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while David C. Parker defeated Anthony Diecidue, Jacquelyn Leonard and Pete Begley in the Republican primary. Lamar R. Thomas, Sr. (I) was removed from the ballot before the general election. Madden was defeated by Parker in the general election.[3][4][5]
