Anthony I. Giacobbe is a former justice of the Richmond County Supreme Court in the 13th Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to this court in 2006 and became a certificated justice the following year. His last term expired in 2012.[1][2]

Education

Giacobbe attended Georgetown University for his Bachelor of Science (1958) and his J.D. (1961) degrees.[1]

Career

Giacobbe began his career in 1962 serving in the U.S. Army as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate. He then became an assistant Manhattan District attorney in 1964. After serving as a law secretary for the New York City Civil Court briefly in 1968, he became an assistant Richmond County district attorney. He worked in this position until 1977, when he became a self-employed part-time attorney. From 1976 to 1983, he taught as an adjunct professor at St. John's University and, from 1978 to 1983, he served on the New York City Council as a council member at Large. He then served as assistant counsel to the Staten Island Boro president from 1986 to 1990 and as a N.Y. City Planning commissioner from 1990 to 2000.

Giacobbe began his judicial career in 2000 when he was appointed a judge of the New York Court of Claims and an acting supreme court justice. He was then elected to the Supreme Court in 2006.[1]
