I am a father, husband, and career public servant. I am the most experienced criminal law attorney running in this race. I started my public service career on June 1, 2012 as a Public Defender in Henderson, Union, Crittenden, and Webster Counties. I was assigned to District Court (both juvenile and adult), Family Court, and Circuit Court. There, I worked on everything from detention hearings in Juvenile Court to a murder trial in Circuit Court. For the past 6 years, I have been working as a Prosecutor at the Jefferson County Attorney's Office where I presently serve as Division Chief in General Criminal Prosecutions. Currently, I spend approximately six (6) hours a day, everyday, inside of the courtroom. I argue to keep dangerous individuals in jail, I make offers that give non-dangerous offenders second chances, and I always try to do the right thing for this community. That includes leading our office's effort to utilize the Restorative Justice Program in the adult courts. Because of my vast experience in District Court, and because I am the most qualified candidate running in Division 1, I have been endorsed by Citizens for Better Judges, CFAIR, the local Firefighter's Unions, and all seven (7) endorsing local FOPs.
  • I have spent virtually my entire career in the courtroom. I have been trained as a Prosecutor and Defense Attorney, and I utilize that training to see a case from both perspectives.
  • I am experienced in identifying root issues for criminal conduct and utilizing programs to end the cycle. I have required referrals to Mental Health Court, Drug Court, Veteran’s Treatment Court, Restorative Justice through VOA, Ignite through Goodwill, Seven Counties, the Healing Place, and more. This experience will give me the ability to seamlessly transition to overseeing these vitally important specialty courts.
  • I derive joy from witnessing Defendants make positive changes in their lives through the system and ensuring that victims feel restored. I fight daily to ensure dangerous individuals do not continue to victimize the community any further. I know when to give an individual a second chance, and I know when that is not an option.
I have spent virtually my entire career ensuring fair outcomes in the criminal justice system. Professionally, that is all I care about.
