Campaign themes
2016
Karhoff's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
“ | Economy
Despite claims that the economy is bouncing back, we know the truth: Most of our middle-class families are hurting. Needed tax credits have been cut, entrepreneurs find it impossible to compete with big businesses and our state’s infrastructure is in shambles, with no realistic plan to improve it and put Michiganders back to work. As your next state representative, I will fight to protect the middle class, and make sure that Shiawassee County families are able to do more than just make ends meet. Education With the rising cost of higher education, fewer and fewer families are able to help prepare their kids for the future. Whether it’s going to a traditional four-year university or finding the down payment for a vocational program, our families should never have to choose between paying their bills or helping their children succeed. As state representative, I will make sure our kids have the options and resources they need to pursue tomorrow’s top careers. Transparency in Government Michigan’s citizens deserve accountability from their government and expect to receive it, instead of being forced to watch as special interests and lobby groups flood Lansing with money. As state representative, I will support the fight to expand the Freedom of Information Act to include the governor and the Legislature and make sure that our state government is one that is open and available to the people it represents.[2] |
