I am Anthony (Toni) Tomkins. I currently live in Northern Utah and have a small family. I work as a Utilities Technician in the food and beverage industry and I am an Army Reserve Veteran. I first got involved in politics in 2016 and much has changed since then. I do my best to contribute to the community and hope to find more ways to help people.
  • It is my number one desire to help people maintain the freedoms they currently enjoy. I also want to work to create more freedoms for people and prioritize their well being. These freedoms are universal. A right given to benefit a minority, is still a right that can be enjoyed by the majority.
  • I feel that certain communities in our society are being treated as second class or that they shouldn’t exist at all. The LGBTQ+ community, military veterans, immigrants, racial and ethnic minorities and working Americans have all been used by the left and the right to forward an agenda that only seems to help those who have wealth or influence.
  • We need to do things that will provide a better world for our children. Reducing our need for energy by using more efficient processes and goods in our daily lives. Reducing our consumption and waste by using improved technologies and advocating for right to repair.
I am passionate about maintaining the rights of people to let them exist in their lives and not be controlled by an authoritarian government to tell them who they are or how they should peacefully act.
I read a book like Number One by John Dos Passos and I realize that the evils of politics are lurking everywhere and that it takes a strong will to prevent becoming succumbed to them. I would want to be a representative that listens and advocates for the people and not someone who takes advantage of their position to give themselves wealth.
I worked as a janitor during my junior year of high school.
I really like I, Robot by Isaac Asimov. I like how it details our relationship with machines and the importance of laws governing their use.
Term limits are decided at the ballot box.

2016

The following issues were listed on Tomkins' campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Abortion: I believe that life begins at conception. I will fight in every way to protect innocent life.
  • Rights to Arms : The 2nd Amendment is designed to protect the people from a tyrannical government. I will fight to protect all of our rights including the legal ownership of firearms and ammunition.
  • Health Care : Step 1, abolish The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Step 2, create legislation that prevents the federal government from taxing those who choose not to have health insurance.
  • Private Property : If you legally own something, it is yours. I will find every way possible to restrict 'eminent domain' and tie the hands of the Government in respect to taking our property.
  • Immigration: I will not support legislation that offers 'blanket amnesty' to those of illegal immigrant status. I will support legislation that discourages employers from hiring anyone who cannot work legally in the United States and that provides any active solution to providing better border security.
