Campaign website

Austin’s campaign website stated the following:

My Top Priorities if elected are:

(1). Universal Single Payer HealthCare for all Residents. This is a system in which a single public or quasi-public agency organizes health care financing. All residents of the U.S. would be covered for all medically necessary services.

(2). Combatting Global Warming through strategic mitigation and Legislation. Climate change is a very complex issue facing us today. Carbon dioxide, the heat-trapping greenhouse gas that has driven recent global warming, lingers in the atmosphere for years to come, and the planet takes time to respond to the warming.

(3). Extending Benefits to Military Veterans who have suffered the effects of PTSD. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that PTSD afflicts almost 15 percent of Vietnam Veterans, as many as 12 percent of Gulf War Veterans, and 11 percent of Veterans of the war in Afghanistan. PTSD is not a sign of weakness.
