Antonio Byrdsong is the son of a retired Navy captain and an elementary school teacher. As a natural leader with a strong work ethic, Antonio is extremely versatile due to how he was raised is the true definition of a candidate “For the People.” Originally born on Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, growing up as a military child, he was no stranger to constantly moving state to state (Florida, Alabama, California, Hawaii etc.). It was not, however, until moving to the Washington DC Metropolitan area and spending significant time in the region that he began to form a strong passion for public policy and the United States political process.
  • Education - We must protect parental rights when it comes to their children’s education while also ensuring that our school administrators and educators are properly equipped with an abundance of resources to execute their jobs at a beyond exceptional level. The children are our future and there is potentially in each and every single student. This is why we must do our part to try and set each one up for success.
  • Economy - No personal income tax, along with business friendly laws and tax policies, are among many of the reasons Florida stands out in the United States. Preserving our “business-friendly environment” is crucial to our economic sustainability. Millions on millions of tourists visit Florida every year for a reason and frankly.. we want them to keep returning along with the new entrepreneurs who flock to the state daily which helps fuel business competition and keep resident consumer prices low.
  • Law Enforcement - Defunding the police comes with disastrous results. Instead we should be increasing our investment in law enforcement to enhance our officer training, conduct pay raises where appropriate, and offer better incentives to recruit the best personnel from around the nation. It’s time we legalize possession of small amounts of cannabis for personal use as well. Our officers should be focused on more serious crimes and issues plaguing local communities. We need to immediately begin a coordinated effort to help bridge the gap between police departm
Education, public safety, environmental and economic sustainability are among the areas of public policy I am most passionate about along with criminal justice reform. I also believe our system of government works best when everyone participates and is encouraged to do so.
Accountability, transparency, “thick skin” & mental toughness are a few of the most important characteristics for an elected official along with the will to actually listen to your constituents desires.

The first major historical event I remember that happened in my lifetime would be the horrible tragedy that occurred on September 11th, 2001. Although I was young at the time, I vividly remember watching the news coverage on live tv in my classroom that day while the teacher tried to explain to our class what exactly had just happened.
When I was 13 years old In middle school I was hired to be a referee by my local youth basketball league. It was a great experience and a job I continued until I graduated high school.
Experience is certainly beneficial for state legislators just as it is for most things in life however it should never be the sole factor in deciding who to vote for.
In certain instances yes. Far too often common sense legislation fails to pass due to partisan bickering which does nothing but hurt constituents.
