Appointment made in North Carolina 24th District
October 18, 2011
North Carolina: Yesterday, Governor Bev Perdue appointed F. Warren Hughes to the 24th District Court. He succeeds William A. Leavell III, who in July resigned his seat due to health problems.[1]
Judge Hughes served as Clerk of Court for twenty-seven years in Yancey County prior to his appointment. He also worked in private practice and is a certified mediator.[2]
Because North Carolina appointees must run for the seat in the next general election (more than sixty days following appointment), Hughes must participate in the 2012 election.[3]
