Appropriations Committee, South Dakota State Senate
The Appropriations Committee is a standing committee of the South Dakota State Senate.
The Senate Appropriations Committee is made up of the Senate members serving on the Joint Appropriations Committee. Senate members on the joint appropriations committee are appointed in the same way as members are appointed to other standing Senate committees.
Per Section S4-1 of the Senate Rules, committees of the South Dakota State Senate are chosen by the President Pro Tempore and Minority Leader. Committees are assigned after the general election.[1] The President of the Senate is an ex officio member of the Legislative Procedure Committee and the President Pro Tempore is the chair of the Legislative Procedure Committee.[1] For all other standing committees, the member that is announced first serves as the chair of the committee.[2]
