|In 2016 Aramis became Florida’s first Black State Attorney. During her 4-year term, she expressed fierce opposition to the death penalty, brought transformational justice and reforms, and protected the public from violent crimes, such as gun crimes and domestic violence. She is currently an Assistant Professor the University of Central Florida. Highlights of her experience prior to running for office include homicide, major crimes, and sex crimes prosecutions and a decade as a public defender. She is a Past President of several local and state bar associations and was a Regional Director of the National Bar Association. Aramis Ayala is now running for Attorney General. She’s running because we need leaders with a heart for justice and an unwavering commitment to public safety. We need a bold voice with integrity and intellect to get the job done. Aramis is ready to take action and to make change now.
- Our constitutional rights are under attack, and we need an Attorney General who will fight to protect our rights. From voting rights to women’s rights, educational freedom and so many others, we must push back on any extreme agenda that attempts to undermine the strength of our democracy and the progress we have made. As Attorney General I am fully committed to ensuring that the Constitution is used to advance the rights, freedoms, and interests of the people.
- Public safety is in crisis. Safety is a universal desire and it the responsibility of the Attorney General is to prioritize safety of the people from gun violence, health crisis or anything that threatens our security. When I served as State Attorney, I established policies based on research and data and a firm commitment to reduce recidivism. That is how we create safe and healthy communities. I look forward to expanding that vision when I am Attorney General so that all Floridians can feel safer and be safer.
- Our democracy requires us to build an economy that works for us all. It is the responsibility of the Attorney General to protect the people from corporate abuse and predatory behavior, to sue insurance companies that threaten or cause harm to the public, and to enforce laws that protect workers’ rights. As Attorney General I will investigate corporations, prosecute when necessary and work to reverse the negative impacts that persist from leadership whose interests are for personal gain over protections of Floridians.

Campaign website
Ayala’s campaign website stated the following:

Constitutional Protections Florida has seen our laws roll back the enormous progress made for women, minorities, and our LGBTQ+ Community. It is the job of the Attorney General to fight back when this attempt is made and protect our rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. As the Attorney General, Aramis will fight to make sure the separation of church and state is a reality in Florida. Aramis Ayala’s top priority is to ensure women’s right and privacy is protected. She will always fight to protect this sacred right that has been settled into law for decades. The 15-week abortion bad is unconstitutional. The “Don’t Say Gay” Bill is unconstitutional. The redistricting map that eliminated majority-minority districts is unconstitutional. Aramis is prepared to win these constitutional violations on behalf of the people.
As State Attorney, Aramis protected our communities and our rights. She has shown consistent commitment to focus on domestic violence and gun violence to reduce violent crime. Aramis instituted groundbreaking reforms and policies to reduce recidivism and increase public safety. Her fight for justice and safety has been fought alongside the people and will continue across the state Aramis is not afraid of the NRA and will work with the federal government to make Florida safer for all.
She is committed to investigating nursing homes that fail to adequately staff nursing homes and engage in sham investment schemes that seek to rip off Florida seniors. In addition to launching investigations and prosecuting fraudulent insurance companies, Aramis will fight against all fraudulent and predatory lenders from conning consumers. She will work to provide access to safe, affordable housing, expose bad landlords, and crack down on discrimination and deceptive mortgage practices. Aramis will crack down on investment scams and securities fraud.
Aramis is committed to fighting to decrease Florida’s reliance on fossil fuels. She believed that it is time to transition to clean renewable energy. A top priority as Attorney General will be to implement stronger drinking water standards to protect Floridians.
