Aretha Olivarez was a 2015 nonpartisan candidate for District 4 of the Orlando City Council in Florida. Aretha Olivarez lost the general election on November 3, 2015.
Biography
Olivarez served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years as was in the Navy Reserve for 14 years. She holds an associate degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University, a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Phoenix and a master's degree in education from Nova Southeastern University. She has written five books and worked as a college instructor for five years. Her business, Multiplying Talents International, is a nonprofit consultant firm. She also had a wedding cake business.[1]

The city of Orlando, Florida, held elections for mayor and city council on November 3, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was September 4, 2015. Three of the six city council seats were up for election.[3]
