As lifelong renters, my family understands the struggles of unaffordable housing. This economy is not working for many of us, that is why I want to build a California we can ALL afford. I'm prepared to be your Assemblymember because as a Deputy for Congresswoman Waters and Assemblymember Burke, I fought to support small businesses, address environmental issues, expand the Child Tax Credit for working families, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, I helped families access their unemployment benefits.
In 2009, I was appointed by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to the City Commission for Children Youth & Their Families where he advocated to make City Hall family friendly and supported the expansion of public safety initiatives including the KIDS Watch LA Program. Then in 2016, Supervisor Hilda Solis appointed me to serve on the County Commission on Insurance and prior to my appointments, I served as a Youth Board Member on the LA-32 Neighborhood Council.- Champion an economy that works for everyone by tackling the challenges of the cost of living. In the Assembly, I will support living wage jobs, renters, access to high-skill union positions with the Building Trades, and invest in initiatives that promote homeownership.
- Address homelessness once in for all through supporting new ideas, because what Sacramento is doing right now isn’t cutting it. I support California’s innovative Care Courts initiative to assist in relocating unhoused individuals with severe mental health and drug addiction challenges from our streets to the necessary treatment facilities. This is an urgent issue that needed to be fixed, well, yesterday.
- Keep our neighborhoods safe by protecting our communities from gun violence by supporting background checks, and enacting policies that prevent violent crime and smash-and-grabs.
- Addressing homelessness with housing first, mental health services and homeownership opportunities
- Working on an economy that works for all of us, not just the wealthy
- Keeping our neighborhoods safe
