I am running for office because as a mom to two young kids, I know that how we address challenges in our communities today will determine the future of our state for generations to come. Being raised in a rural community, I grew up believing that whether you work on a farm, a factory, in a restaurant, or behind a desk, you deserve respect, fair wages, and the ability to retire with dignity. Our North Coast is one of the most beautiful places in the world, but we also have some very real challenges. To take action on urgent issues - like housing, affordability, wildfires - we need someone that is ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work. That’s me.
I have a proven record on the issues that matter in my community and across this district. As Mayor, I led the city in reducing homelessness by over 60%, implemented a housing plan that is yielding more homes built than at any time in the last 20 years, and launched our first ever Climate Mobilization Strategy.
I’m endorsed by local firefighters, the Democratic Legislative Women’s Caucus, and local elected officials up and down the North Coast.
- Climate Resilience - We need to protect the North Coast’s beauty and natural resources while fortifying our communities against the ever-growing threats of climate change and wildfires. Investing in green infrastructure that not only shields our coastlines and forests but also promotes a healthier ecosystem for future generations. I’m determined to leverage state resources to ensure that every community is able to participate in a just, green transition.
- Reducing homelessness and increasing affordable housing - We must invest in mental health treatment, drug addiction programs, and lower the cost of housing so struggling residents can stay in their homes. We also need to make housing more affordable overall. During my time at the Sonoma County Planning Commission, I helped streamline processes for new housing projects. I also identified locations to increase housing production and density. Now as Mayor, we have more affordable and market-rate housing in the pipeline than any time in the last 20 years. I will use these experiences leading locally to support governments all across the district to increase their housing stock and address the housing crisis.
- Increasing Access Healthcare - We need to expand access to high-quality affordable healthcare especially in rural communities, lower the cost of prescription drugs, invest in affordable childcare, and make housing costs within reach to ensure that every resident of the North Coast has the support they need to lead secure and dignified lives. In the Assembly, I plan to work to incentivize practitioners to stay in rural districts, secure grants for technical training programs, and champion policies that support our seniors and families.
As a woman and pro-choice mom, I am also passionate about ensuring that we defend our rights to reproductive rights and increase access to reproductive care in our state. No one should have to wait months on end to receive medical care, and I am passionate about keeping our clinics open.
