My name is Ariel Oxaal. I have lived and worked in NH for most of my life. I have professional experience in hospitality and tourism. I am running to better workers rights, for property tax reform and to end the prohibition of cannabis, and for Climate Justice in NH.
I am passionate about NH's workers receiving paid FMLA and paid earned sick time, as well as increasing funding to public education, ending cannabis prohibition, and implementing more green energy sources and increasing net metering.
I have some memories of the OJ Simpson Trial and the hype surrounding Y2K, but the most formative historic event was 9/11, which was a couple of weeks before my 11th birthday.
My first job was babysitting, although my first job at a business was as a host at a restaurant local to where I grew up.
While I think it may be beneficial, I do not find it to be required. I believe a strong legislative body represents constituents from all walks of life and all industries, and I believe that people have the capacity to learn and grow.
My district, Strafford County 15 (Dover Ward 3) is especially prone to the effects of climate change, as much of the residential area in the district is located on or near a tidal bay. Education funding is also a great challenge, especially with the lack of sales and income tax. Finding other sources of revenue has been a challenge. I also worry about the fact that New Hampshire is an "aging" state. With two of the three largest industries in New Hampshire being healthcare and tourism, it is so important for the state to be an attractive place for young people to stay, and move to.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in New Hampshire

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
