Arizona House of Representatives elections, 2010
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Elections for all 60 seats in the Arizona State House were held on November 2, 2010.
The signature filing deadline was May 26, 2010, and the primary election day was August 24, 2010.
In Arizona, representatives are elected to two-year terms with a limit of four consecutive terms. There are two representatives for each district. The two candidates who receive the highest number of votes in each district are elected.
As a result of this election, the Republican majority gained five seats for control of 2/3rds of all seats in the House.
Thirty-six (60%) of the 60 incumbent representatives ran for re-election in 2010.

Heading into the November 2 election, the Republican Party held the majority in the Arizona House of Representatives.
Term limits
Arizona representatives serve two-year terms with a four-term/eight-year limit established by Proposition 107 in 1992. Arizona's term limits apply to parts of terms and not just full terms.
In the 2010 state house elections, 13 representatives who were first elected in 2002 (five Democrats and eight Republicans) were unable to run for re-election due to term limits. They were:
Democrats (5):
Republicans (8):
- Ray Barnes
- Steven B. Yarbrough
- Warde Nichols
- Lucy Mason
- Tom Boone
- Bill Konopnicki
- Andy Biggs
- Michele Reagan
In addition to the 13 Arizona state representatives, 10 state senators did not seek re-election due to term limits.
Nationally, 253 current state representatives termed out in November, or 20% of the 1,263 total seats up for election in the 13 term-limited states with November 2010 elections.
Arizona was one of 6 Houses where Republicans had more term-limited representatives than Democrats.
