The Arizona Legal Tender Initiative was not on the ballot in Arizona as an initiated state statute on November 6, 2018.
The measure would have determined how legal tender was defined. The initiative would have defined the following as legal tender: (a) legal tender authorized by Congress, (b) coin or bullion having gold or silver content issued at any time by the U.S. government, (c) coin or bullion having gold or silver content that a court of competent jurisdiction rules as within the scope of state authority to make legal tender, and (d) any digital currency in which encryption techniques are used that is agreed upon as a unit of trade. The measure would have provided that a person may not compel, except by contract, any other person to accept coin or bullion having gold or silver content or digital currency.[1]
