Arkansas Bureau of Legislative Research
The Arkansas Bureau of Legislative Research is a nonpartisan, all-purpose legislative service agency dedicated to serving the members and staff of the Arkansas Legislature.
Governance
The Bureau of Legislative Research is led by a director who is responsible for the day to day operations of the bureau.[1]
Divisions
Fiscal division
The Fiscal Division is responsible for all fiscal research in relation to the state's expenditures, revenues, and other issues relating to Arkansas legislators. Also, the Fiscal Division is responsible for doing research and analysis on the Arkansas State Budget.[2]
Information technology division
The Bureau of Legislative Research has a information technology division that is responsible for developing and maintaining the computer networks of the Arkansas Legislature. The Information Technology Division is responsible for all digital imaging of legislative records, creating computer applications designed for the legislative process, technical support and repair of the state legislature's computers, provide multimedia equipment for committee hearings, and provide technical support for the electronic voting system.[3]
Legal division
Staff in the Legal Division are responsible for doing all drafts of bills, amendments, and resolutions in the Legislature. Also, the Legal Division reviews all state statutes and administrative rules to make sure they are in compliance with the U.S. and Arkansas Constitution.[4]
Research division
Research requests from members and staff of the Legislature are provided by the Research Division. Also, the research division is responsible for producing fiscal impact statements.[5]
