The Arkansas Salary Raise for Constitutional Officers Proposed Amendment, also known as Proposed Amendment 56, was on the ballot in Arkansas on November 2, 1976, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The measure raised the salaries of the governor, legislators and other constitutional officers. The measure also established a method for determining salaries of municipal officers.[1][2]

The question on the ballot:

A proposed Constitutional Amendment to limit and establish the salaries of the Constitutional Officers and members of the General Assembly; and to establish the method of fixing the maximum salaries of Municipal Officers.[2][3]
