The Arkansas Voter Identification Amendment was not on a 2016 election ballot in Arkansas as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment.

If approved, the measure would have required in-person voters to present valid government-issued photo identification before receiving a ballot. The measure also would have provided that the state issue photo identification at no charge to voters who do not have any.[1]

Section 22, Article 19, of the Arkansas Constitution says that a majority vote is required in both houses of the Arkansas Legislature in order to send a measure to the ballot.

The Arkansas Legislature did not take action on the bill; therefore, the measure was not set to appear on the ballot.
