One seat on the Arlington Public Schools School Board was up for general election on November 3, 2015.
The seat of at-large incumbent Abigail J. Raphael was up for election for a four-year term.[1] Reid Goldstein defeated Brooklyn Kinlay in the race for the at-large seat.[2]

Arlington Public Schools is located in northeast Virginia in Arlington County. This county is home to 224,906 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[3] In the 2011-2012 school year, Arlington Public Schools was the 13th-largest school district in Virginia and served 21,892 students.[4]
Demographics
Arlington County overperformed in comparison to the rest of Virginia in terms of higher education achievement in 2013. The United States Census Bureau found that 71.7 percent of county residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree, compared to 35.2 percent for Virginia as a whole. The median household income in Arlington County was $103,208, compared to $63,907 for the state of Virginia. The poverty rate was 8.0 percent, compared to 11.3 percent for the entire state.[3]

Voter and candidate information
The Arlington School Board consists of five at-large members who serve staggered four-year terms. The board is officially nonpartisan, though there is a history of candidates receiving party endorsements. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on November 3, 2015. One seat was up for election in 2015.[6]
The filing deadline for school board candidates to get on the ballot in the general election was June 9, 2015.[6]

Reid Goldstein received official endorsements from the Arlington County Democratic Committee, American Education Association PAC, County Board Chair Mary Hynes and former school board member Ed Fendley.[7][8]
