Armistead Mason Dobie (1881-1962) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit.[1] Armistead Dobie previously served on the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia.[1] Dobie died on August 7th, 1962.

Judicial nominations and appointments

Fourth Circuit

He received a recess appointment from President Franklin D. Roosevelt on December 19, 1939 to replace Elliott Northcott. On January 11, 1940, he was nominated. He was confirmed by the Senate on February 1st, and received commission on February 5th. On February 1, 1956, he assumed senior status and continued to serve in this capacity until his death on August 7, 1962.[1]

Western District of Virginia

Armistead Dobie previously served on the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia.[1]

He was nominated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on May 16, 1939 to replace Floyd Roberts. He was confirmed by the Senate on May 25th, and received commission on June 2nd. He served on this court until February 8, 1940.[1] Dobie was succeeded in this position by Alfred Barksdale.
