Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Thomas' campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Third district opportunities: I will work hard to make sure our district gets its fair share of all the spending of the federal government. There will be major projects you will be able to point to and say Congressman Thomas made that happen
  • Student loan debt: Many young people are buried with heavy student loan debt. They are making house payment size payments on student loans and still living with their parents. If the government can bail out the big banks, the government can bail out our children. I will work to forgive student debt equal to the tuition at a 4 year state university. Let them start families, make payments on houses and jump start the economy.
  • Taxes: It will be necessary to increase taxes on the upper 1%
  • Living within YOUR means: Many members of congress live beyond the means of the people who sent them to Washington. I will live on the same income as the average school teacher ($48,000). All excess salary will be gifted to community food banks to help the needy.
