Arthur B. Federman was a bankruptcy judge for the United States bankruptcy court, Western District of Missouri. He was appointed as bankruptcy judge December 18, 1989.[1] He retired August 31, 2017.[2]

Education and early life

Judge Federman was born in 1951 in Kansas City. He graduated with his bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas in 1973. In 1976 he earned his J.D. and graduated with the highest distinction from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law.[1][3]

Career

Federman was a trial attorney in the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, in Washington, D.C. From 1979 to 1989 he was in private practice in Kansas City, and served as a member of the Panel of Trustees for the Western District of Missouri. While in private practice, in addition to being a Trustee, he represented debtors, creditors, and creditor committees in cases under Chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 of the Code.[1]
