Arthur Cotter

Arthur Cotter is a judge for the 5th District Court, serving Berrien County in Michigan. He was appointed to the court by Governor Rick Snyder on May 9, 2013, to fill the vacancy created by the election of Judge Angela Pasula to the 2nd Circuit Court. Cotter will serve out the rest of Pasula's term, which will expire on January 1, 2015.[1] On November 4, 2014, Cotter was elected to the court unopposed for a full six-year term commencing on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[2]

Education
Cotter received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his J.D. degree from the University of Detroit Mercy.[1]
Career
Before becoming a judge, Cotter spent twenty-seven years at the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office. He served there as a chief assistant prosecutor, a chief trial attorney, an assistant prosecutor of the family division, an assistant prosecutor to the criminal trial staff, and most recently from 2006 until his appointment to the court, as the Berrien County prosecuting attorney.[1]
