Arthur Crawford is a judge of the Hale County Probate Court in Alabama. He was elected as a write-in candidate on November 6, 2012, for a six-year term expiring in 2018. He was sworn in to office on January 12, 2013, as the first black probate judge to serve in Hale County.[1][2]

Education

Crawford graduated from high school in 1974, and attended an A&M university.[3]

Military service

Crawford served in the U.S. Army. He began in the infantry and later served in the artillery and military police. He was then promoted to Command Sargent later attained the rank of Major.[1][3]

Career

After retiring from the U.S. Army in 2002, Crawford worked at the Sawyerville Post Office for one year. He then worked as a soldier aide for security and logistics in Iraq from December 2003 until April 2005. He was elected to the Hale County Probate Court on November 6, 2012, as a write-in candidate after having been taken off the ballot for failing to timely file campaign finance reports during the primary runoff election in April.[1][3]
