Noteworthy events

Repudiation by Illinois Republican Party

The Illinois Republican Party characterized Jones as a Nazi and publicly denounced him in both the 2018 and 2020 races for Illinois' 3rd Congressional District.[4][5] In 2020, the party ran an ad campaign against Jones that included a digital ad titled, "Say No To The Nazi."[5] According to The New York Times, Jones is a former member of the American Nazi Party.[4]

Illinois Republican Party chairman Tim Schneider said of Jones in 2020, “Arthur Jones isn’t a Republican, and we’re going to expose people to who he really is and do everything we can to educate Republicans not to vote for Arthur Jones...we’re going to do everything we can to distance ourselves from this Neo-Nazi who is running as a Republican.”[5] In a news release endorsing Jones' opponent Mike Fricilone in the 2020 Republican primary, Republican state senate leader Bill Brady called Jones a "fake Republican."[6]

Holocaust comments

Jones received criticism when an article came out in the Oak Lawn Patch on February 29, 2012, in which he commented that "the Holocaust is nothing more than an international extortion racket by the Jews. It's the blackest lie in history."[7][8] According to the same article, Jones participated in the Nazis' 1978 march in Chicago and "neither denies nor repudiates" having had been affiliated with the neo-Nazi Party, although he said he votes Republican "90 percent of the time."[7]

Jones' 2016 campaign website contained a section called "Holocaust?" featuring write-ups and newspaper clippings supporting his belief that the Holocaust is "mythical." Jones cited tax benefits received by Holocaust survivors as a possible motivation for their upholding of the narrative. He also claimed on the website that Kosher food labels are "another Jewish racket, pure and simple to extort money out of the food manufacturers at a hefty fee, which is then passed on to all non-Jewish customers in the retail price paid each time we shop."

In the past, Jones participated in public debates about the Holocaust at Naperville Central High School, arguing against Robert Leroi.[9]

The following issues were listed on Jones' campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Bring Our Troops Home Now!: Our troops are sinking deeper into the abyss of unending wars in the Middle East. It’s time to end these wars that are so costly in lives lost and money wasted.
  • Illegal Immigration: Currently the U.S. government has military bases in over 100 foreign nations to defend their borders and to repel foreign invasion of those countries. I think it is time to bring our troops home to defend our own country’s borders against illegal alien drug dealers, criminals, and potential terrorists.
  • No More “Sanctuary Cities”!: This is about the dumbest idea ever conceived. And it is clearly a blatant violation of Article 4, section 4 of the Constitution of the United States, where every state is guaranteed a republican form of government and protection against invasion and domestic violence. So, no Mayor or City Council has the authority to declare their city a “sanctuary” for illegal aliens who are in violation of Federal immigration laws.
  • No Amnesty for Illegal Aliens: Don’t believe the Liberal media lies that there are 11 million illegal aliens in this country. They have been using that number for at least 10 years. The real number of illegal aliens is 20-30 million. And, they are costing us billions of dollars each year in free health care, subsidized housing, free education for their children; and spreading diseases and violent crime across the country.
  • Make English the Official Language: America was founded by English speaking people. For most of our history as a nation, if you wanted to be able to advance yourself, as a new legal immigrant, you had to learn how to speak and write in English. Since 1965, with the repeal of the McCarran-Walter Act, (which was an immigration law favoring White, European legal immigrants) the requirement for citizenship to be able to speak and write English was swept aside and now any two-legged vagabond from any Third-world, non-white, or non-Christian country is given preference whether they arrived legally or illegally. Either, learn America’s language, our culture, and respect our laws or get out of our country!

2012

On his campaign website, Jones listed 12 leading issues that he is concerned about. They were:[14][15][16]

  • War on Terrorism: Excerpt: "I'm completely against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the deployment of troops to other countries when they're needed to protect our borders. America can't afford to keep going to war. Before we lose more lives and spend hundreds of billions of more dollars that could be used at home, America should cut its losses."
  • Jobs: Excerpt: "The biggest culprits for the loss of American jobs are free-trade treaties. I call these "Treasoness Trade Treaties." Three treaties recently ratified with Columbia, Panama and South Korea will eliminate tens of thousands more American jobs once these treaties go into effect. A treaty with South Korea alone will cost 159,000 American jobs. Only an America First Trade Policy, which I support and puts American workers first, is the only way to preserve American jobs."
  • Illegal Immigration: Excerpt: "I believe illegal immigrants should be deported. We should secure our borders to save our country, not waste lives and money defending the borders of other countries. Under our Constitution (Article 4, Section 4), our government is required to protect us against invasion, yet we're being invaded on a daily basis by illegal immigrants."
  • Gay Marriage Ban: "I'm absolutely opposed to gay marriage because I believe it's destructive to normal family life. Nor should homosexuals and lesbians be allowed to flaunt their abnormal sexual desires openly while in any branch of the US military."
  • Abortion Ban: "I am a "right to lifer" who believes that mothers shouldn't abort their babies, as it amounts to murder. I will fight to enact a constitutional amendment to end abortion in our country once and for all."
  • Education Reform: Excerpt: "I believe more trade schools, business schools, and vocational schools should be set up so that these young men and women can learn valuable skills, that will allow them to earn a good living without going heavily into debt. Going to college seems to provide the most educated, unemployed, and heavily indebted workforce in the world."
  • Conceal Weapons Rights:"I believe the citizens of Illinois should have the right to carry concealed weapons. It's the only state that doesn't allow a citizen to protect his or her rights and property. Allowing gun owners to carry concealed weapons would cut down on crime."
  • Health Insurance Reform: Excerpt: "1. No free health care for illegal aliens. 2. Medical care fraud is currently costing over $100 Billion a year. The mandatory penalty for such criminals should be a 10 year prison term. 3. Medical Malpractice Insurance premiums are too high. 4. All medical professionals --doctors, nurses, specialists, therapists, etc. -- should be required to take an annual Medical Competency Exam in their respective field of medicine. 5. Finally, a special agency that operates much like Medicaid, should be set up to provide funds for Catastrophic Illnesses only."
  • Tax Reform: Excerpt: "Simply put, the FEDERAL INCOME TAX MUST BE REPEALED!To comply costs more than the revenue it brings in. I propose either a simple flat tax of 10% or a 10% national sales tax, that exempts food and medicine."
  • Balanced Budget Amendment: "I support a Constitutional amendment that requires the budget be balanced before it can be signed by the President. That will permanently prevent deficit spending by Congress or the President."
  • Public Financing of Elections: Excerpt: "I believe every candidate, no matter the party he or she runs under, should be given equal funds from a taxpayer funded campaign fund once they have been duly placed on the ballot. Public campaign financing will eliminate all influence from corporate big shots, labor unions, media moguls, defense contractors, and racial and religious pressure groups."
  • Social Security: "Social Security is for some American seniors their only source of retirement income. For that reason, we must keep Social Security. However, those with no need of Social Security as determined by their income, should be willing to forego their benefits if necessary to keep the Social Security system from insolvency. This would be a voluntary act of great Christian charity, to do so."
  • Wage Reform: Excerpt: "'All wages earned at overtime, time and a half or double time or any tips received by full or part-time workers shall not be subject to any federal taxes.' This would allow all working people to keep more of what they earn, without requiring their employers to pay more out of their pockets. It would also encourage employees to be more productive for their employers which would mean greater profits for business."
