Arthur H. Kirksey III was a candidate for District B representative on the Brandywine School Board in Delaware. He was defeated in his bid for the open seat in the election on May 12, 2015.

Kirksey has a degree in communications from Howard University. He served in the U.S. Marines and was honorably discharged. He has worked as a teacher and school administrator, including his current job as a charter school teacher.[1]

Opposition

Two of the seven seats on the Brandywine School Board were up for general election May 12, 2015. The seats were elected by district. District B incumbent Cara Stanard's and District E incumbent Olivia Johnson-Harris' seats were up for election, but neither incumbent filed to run for re-election. Kristin Pidgeon won Stanard's vacated seat, and Karen Gordon won Johnson-Harris'.

Arthur Kirksey and Kristin Pidgeon ran for the open District B seat, while Karen Gordon and Diana Hornung-Hanby vied for the open District E seat. John Pierson also filed for the District B race but withdrew on March 9, 2015.[2]
