Arthur P. Roy was a judge on the Colorado Court of Appeals. He was appointed to the court on March 4, 1994 and retained by voters in 2004.[1] On November 23, 2012, Roy retired due to reaching mandatory retirement age. [2] Stephanie Dunn was selected to replace Roy on the court.[3]

Education

A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Judge Roy attended Iowa State University, graduating with a B.S. in 1963. Judge Roy served his country in the United States Army Reserve from 1963-1973, and was Active Duty from 1963 - 1966 as a Fixed Wing Aviator (Pilot). His overseas Duty was from December 7, 1965 - March 18, 1966, Republic of Vietnam.

Judge Roy earned his J.D. from the University of Colorado in 1969, was the Associate Editor, University of Colorado Law Review and Author, "State Constitutional Provisions Prohibiting the Loaning of Credit to Private Enterprise - A Suggested Analysis" 41 U. Colo. L. Rev. 135 (1969). Judge Roy was admitted to practice before the Colorado Supreme Court, 1969; United States District Court - State of Colorado, 1969; United States Circuit Court of Appeals - Tenth Circuit, 1971; and the United States Supreme Court, 1973.[4]
