Arthur G. Scotland was the Presiding Justice of the Third District of the California Courts of Appeal. He was appointed to this court by former Governor Deukmejian in 1989. He was later appointed to the position of Presiding Justice and took his oath of office on December 21, 1998. [1] He was retained in the November 2002 general election.[2] His 12-year term would have expired in 2014 but he retired from the court in 2010.[3]
Education
Arthur Scotland was born in Sacramento, CA on October 19, 1946. He graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1968, and went on to earn his law degree from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1974. He worked as a Deputy District Attorney in Sacramento County from 1974 to 1976 and as a California Deputy Attorney General from 1976 to 1983. He then worked as the Cabinet Secretary to Governor Deukmejian until 1987, when he was appointed to the Sacramento County Superior Court.[1][4][5]
Career
