Article I of the Puerto Rico Constitution is entitled The Commonwealth and consists of 4 sections.

Section 1

Text of Section 1:
The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is constituted. Their political power emanates from the people and is exercised in accordance with his will, under the terms of agreement agreed between the people of Puerto Rico and the United States of America.[1]

Section 2

Text of Section 2:
Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico will form and Republican legislative, executive and judicial branches, as determined by this Constitution, shall be equally subordinated to the sovereignty of the people of Puerto Rico.[1]

Section 3

Text of Section 3:
Political authority of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico shall be extended to the island of Puerto Rico and adjacent islands within its jurisdiction.[1]

Section 4

Text of Section 4:
The seat of government is the city of San Juan Bautista de Puerto Rico.[1]
