All four incumbents whose terms were up for re-election in the Roswell Independent school board election in 2017 ran to retain their seats, and they all faced at least one challenger. Two incumbents won re-election to the board, and two newcomers were elected.

In the district's 2015 school board election, both incumbents who were up for re-election also ran to retain their seats. That year, the wins were also split between incumbents and newcomers. One incumbent won an additional term on the board, but the other was defeated by a newcomer.
