|I am running for Director because I see clearly what is needed - to build foundations, inspire leadership, and promote transparency.
According to the Colorado Department of Education website, 61% of 3rd grade students are not meeting expectations in reading, and 78% of 8th grade students are not meeting expectations in mathematics. We have 14% of students who have failed to graduate. We need to fortify and focus on these critical, foundational skills to ensure that our students are truly ready to take control of their future.
As your Director, I will be working to formulate better district policy which encourages mastering leadership skills, while removing obstacles to learning such as fear, hunger, bullying, and physical & mental abuse.
I will also promote transparency in district finance and curriculum selection so that the public has a clear understanding of where their hard earned tax dollars are being spent and make sure all stakeholders have a voice in how our students are educated.
- Building Foundations, focusing on the 3rd grade reading and 8th grade math milestones
- Inspiring Leadership, focusing on teaching critical thinking and leadership skills
- Promoting Transparency, focusing on district finance and curriculum selection
