Campaign themes

2017

Aman highlighted the following issues on his campaign website:

  • Immediate alignment of certain geographical pockets in the district so that those pockets attend school nearest them. I have done a thorough analysis of the current boundaries and come up with regions in which the school alignment is non-ideal. Several of these regions can be acted upon by Fall 2017. Please see details of plan HERE.
  • Implementation of full-day kindergarten for all in the district and clean-up of boundaries for those regions with non-ideal alignment (that can’t be fixed by Fall 2017). Such an implementation is possible without asking the taxpayers for additional funds via bond referendum. I have done an analysis resulting in a plan that implements this. Please see some details of the plan HERE.
  • Find and implement best practices in the district and nationally to further personalize each student’s curriculum using technology. This aims to supplement both the student that is not challenged enough in the classroom and the student that is struggling in the classroom. I am envisioning a strategy in which the classroom teacher tailors each student’s curriculum to include what the entire class is learning, as well as online assignments that targets that particular student’s strengths and weaknesses. Online tools similar to Duolingo, IXL, Prodigy and Khan Academy style flip the classroom model could be utilized, to name a few.
  • Advocate and find solutions to reduce the achievement gap within the district.[8]
