Ashanti Hamilton
Ashanti Hamilton was a member of the Milwaukee Common Council in Wisconsin, representing District 1. Hamilton assumed office in 2004. Hamilton left office on August 30, 2022.
Hamilton ran for re-election to the Milwaukee Common Council to represent District 1 in Wisconsin. Hamilton won in the general election on April 7, 2020.
Although elections in Milwaukee are officially nonpartisan, Hamilton is known to be a member of the Democratic Party.[1]
Biography
Hamilton was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and attended Riverside High School. He received a bachelor's degree in English from Marquette University and then worked as a teacher. He earned a J.D. from Texas Southern University.[2]

The city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, held elections for mayor and city council on April 5, 2016. A primary election took place on February 16, 2016. All 15 city council seats were up for election. Incumbent Ashanti Hamilton defeated Vincent Toney in the Milwaukee City Council District 1 general election.[3]
