Asher Edeslon was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome at age seven.

He medically withdrew during his first year of college, to get Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery (DBS) to help mitigate the symptoms of his Tourette’s.

Upon graduating from the University of South Florida with a major in Political Science and a minor in History, he moved to Vermont.

Now, five years later, Asher has built a life of service to his Southern Vermont community.

- Social studies Teacher, Southwest Vermont Regional Technical School - Southwest Vermont Regional Technical School District Board Member - Chair of the Vermont Democratic Disability Caucus - Chair of the Bennington Town Democratic Party - Vermont Democratic Party Executive Committee Member

And he is expecting his first child with his partner, Amber.

Asher Edelson is an advocate for public transit, disability justice, universal healthcare , environmental stewardship and accessible housing.
  • It is crucial to the health of our community that we have officiant and ample public transportation options. Whether that means allocating more funds for organizations such as Green Mountain Express or advocating for commuter rail in Bennington, as your state Representative public transportation will be a priority of mine.
  • My perspective, as a person with Tourette Syndrome, has offered me a unique insight into the world of disability. As your state representative, I will always be affirmative in my resolve to see people with disabilities empowered, whether that pertains to housing, education, transit, healthcare, accessibility and any other issue that effects our community.
  • We need to find avenues with local partners to safely house people experiencing homelessness, the motel vouchers are not a sustainable policy and I will work to mitigate this issue. This could mean the construction of tiny homes or utilizing existing infrastructure. As your State Representative, I am eager to have conversations with collogues in Montpelier regarding property taxation to bring property taxes down for those most vulnerable.
Public transportation, justice for marginalized people, environmental protection, accessibility in housing, equitable education, earnest politics
Bernie Sanders and Jesse Ventura, two left leaning independents who have stood on the good side of the issues going back decades. Two exceptional American heroes I would say I look up to.
Earnest politics, humility, and integrity on the issues. It is so vital that we have elected officials who get it. Whether or not I agree with someone, I want to earn their vote, rather than tricking them into a vote by saying whatever it is they want to hear.
To listen to the people of Bennington 2 and Vermont as a whole, advocate through legislation, and connect people in need to the best possible point.
Got a lot of actionable work done for the sake of the people. Helped thousands of folks out and mitigated future damage.
I worked at Precinct Pizza years ago, and I had that job for about half a year.
The Lord of the Rings, it captures struggle, brotherhood, and hardship within a wonderful fantasy universe.
A song by Lil Peep, my students and my girlfriend both love that deceased artist.
Dealing with the hardships of Tourette Syndrome.
Be on the same page, engage in dialogue often, and come to consensus when possible.
Combining our state’s small budget size with the immense issues of the future, such as housing, education, and environmental protection, especially considering rising costs and increasingly bad floods.
Bernie Sanders, Phil Hoff, Ro Khanna, Elizabeth Warren, Tony Coehlo
When black people have to put up with racist rhetoric and activity, that is a form of violence that I do not tolerate and want to weed out of our brave little state.
War does not determine who is right, only who is left.
Resolution to allow disabled folks to keep benefits regardless of marital status.
Chloe Collins, Rep. Elizabeth Burrows, Center for Freethought Equality
Transportation, education, health and human services, agriculture, appropriations
Keep things as open and honest as possible. Get rid of Citizens United and pay to play politics.
