My life has been deeply rooted in the values and and ideals of the community. I'm a wife, mother, small business owner and proud North Carolina resident. I believe that together we can build back a strong foundation based on strong family values, unwavering commitment to duty and dedication to prosperity to district 18 and North Carolina.
  • I'm committed to empowering parents with the freedom to choose the educational path that best suits their children. Education is not a one size fits all situation and through school choice, we can create a landscape where parents are actively involved in their child's education.
  • I am committed to advocating for policies that foster economic growth and create better job opportunities. I have a firm belief that the power of entrepreneurship and small businesses, we can create a robust economy to put money in the pockets of hard working North Carolinians. .
  • I believe in showing an unwavering support for our police, fire fighters, EMT's, paramedics, social workers, nurses, and anyone else on the front lines who puts themselves on the front lives everyday to serve our community. Working together with these services and bolstering our mental health services in the district will create a safer, more supportive community for all in district 18.
I'm a strong advocate for mental health improvements, supporting our first responders, empowering parents and reforming the education system in North Carolina. Being an advocate for the values of the people of my district and North Carolina is paramount.
Transparency and trust worthiness are paramount in an elected official. Having faith in the person representing your values allows residents to feel secure that they are being represented effectively and wholeheartedly.
Throughout my life I have done many things and had several careers. From being a dive instructor, a nurse, and small business owner...I have learned many skills which may serve me well. Being an effective communicator is a skill I think will enable me to speak well for the people i serve. Having compassion and empathy for those around me while being able to maintain composure during times of conflict will allow for a level head. Having critical thinking skills and the ability to think quickly should serve those in my district well.
Being an advocate for the values of the people who you represent is the core responsibility of an elected official.
My earliest memory was the space shuttle explosion of the Challenger. We were in grade school and our teacher allowed us to watch the launch on TV. It was incredibly exciting and then terribly sad all at once. I will never forget that experience.
My first real job was in high school. As a child I had chores and responsibilities at home, but my first job was receptionist of a real estate office. I also did odd jobs for that office like cleaning rental properties once they were vacant or repainting homes before new tenants moved in. I worked this job through high school and will admit to being a terrible house painter! During college I worked as a waitress at several different restaurants but enjoyed being a dive master guide the most.
That is a tough question because there are so many options. Wonder Woman jumps to mind simply for the incredible accessories or Iron Man for the powerful suit! And those are just the super heroes.....what a list I could make!
Our state is the best in the union and people are arriving here in droves from all over the country. One of our greatest challenges will be to manage the infrastructure to allow for this growth.. Bringing positive growth while maintaining the essence of North Carolina and what makes it special will be vastly important. Providing for economic growth for the people of NC will also be a huge challenge. Putting policies in place that foster economic growth and create better jobs will be hugely important to our future.
It is very important to build relationships and allow for communication with other legislators. Without communication, we will all be worse off and be less effective for the people who voted for us. By engaging in communication with other legislators from both sides of the aisle, we create the possibility of working together for the people of NC.
The people of this district deserve to know where their hard warned money is being used to improve the state they live in. Having the government take responsibility for both the good decisions and poor ones is paramount when communicating with constituents. No system is perfect but allowing for accountability and transparency will improve the working relationship between a government and its people.
