"I'm a lifelong Costa Mesa resident with a passion for and sustained commitment to our Westside neighborhoods. As a student, I attended our local schools, starting at Wilson Elementary. After attending Estancia High School for 3 years, I graduated early from NMUSD and began taking college classes at OCC. I have a teaching credential & master's in education. I was an elementary teacher and I have worked with several local nonprofits, including a decade creating and leading education initiatives in our city. I understand and love our close community here, especially the neighborhood and the schools where I grew up and still live. It takes each one of us to make a flourishing and exceptional school district. Let’s work together to build our commUNITY, and I will continue to be a trusted advocate and devoted voice for our Costa Mesa public schools, as well as our entire unified district."

Ashley has a strong belief in the exceptional potential of our Westside school communities and will continue to be a voice to advocate for what is needed to make teachers, parents, and students feel supported, equipped, and empowered.

Ashley has proven she cares deeply for students and families. She has the leadership and educational experience to continue making a notable, positive impact as a NMUSD School Board Trustee representing her hometown - Area 7, Westside Costa Mesa.
  • Increase academic achievement, opportunities, and community partnerships
  • Ensure district funding for Costa Mesa classrooms and site programs
  • Playgrounds as Parks - open use for community on weekends
I am passionate about student literacy achievement, early education, parent empowerment, and teacher/staff morale.

I am committed to closing the opportunity gap for Westside students by creating partnerships so students learn how to swim, ride a bike, surf, snowboard, ride a horse, excel at playing a musical instrument, participate in performing arts, visit museums, learn multiple languages, and have access to technology.

I would like to innovate and strategize so each neighborhood school in NMUSD is the best public school option for its nearby residents, minimizing cross-district transfers so friendships and community can thrive. It is important to me that more of our schools offer multilingual options for students, which will boost career and family success. I want to see greater access for safe routes to school for all families who walk, bike, take the bus, or drive to our schools daily.

I am driven to change how school boards operate so there is more local control, greater accountability, more focus on student achievement and less on district operations, enhanced city and community partnerships, relevant student civic engagement training, and increased civility.
