Ashley Villaverde Halvorson is a judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. She assumed office in 2021. Her current term ends on January 1, 2029.

Villaverde Halvorson ran for re-election for judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. She won in the retention election on November 5, 2024.

She was appointed to the court on October 1, 2021, by Gov. Doug Ducey (R) to replace Connie Contes.[1]

Biography

Ashley Villaverde Halvorson earned both her B.A. and J.D. from Arizona State University.[1] She has served as the president of the Los Abogados Hispanic Bar Association and has been involved with Latina Mentoring Project for over ten years. She is a member of the State Bar of Arizona Committee on Minorities and Women in the Law as well as the Hispanic National Bar Association. Halvorson was named one of the Top Lawyers Under 40 by the Hispanic National Bar Association in 2017. In addition, she was named a Southwest Super Lawyers Rising Star. Halvorson received the State Bar of Arizona’s Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Award in 2020.[1] Prior to her appointment to the court, her career experience included the following:

  • 2017–2021: Partner - Jones, Skelton & Hochuli, PLC
  • 2018: Judge pro tem - Maricopa County Superior Court
  • 2009–2017: Associate - Jones, Skelton & Hochuli, PLC
