Campaign themes
2016
Woolard's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Let me tell you why I seek this position. I pledge to refocus the District on a conservative platform of fiscal awareness while engaging the GOP majority in the North Carolina House. District 6 has suffered the past few years with distracted leadership. I know who I am and what my party can do for eastern North Carolina. As a small businessman I realize we rebuild our economy from the bottom up and while I will work with our majority in Raleigh, I pledge to never let the so-called big picture dominate policy at the expense of our folks Down East. In an article with the Beaufort Observer, Woolard said that his platform "...is focused on two tracks. The first involves lowering taxes and lessening regulations because this environment is critical for small business job creation where eight percent of new jobs in eastern North Carolina originate. This is why I support the current initiative in the General Assembly to eliminate the state income tax. The second track involves maintaining the job base we now have at sufficient levels to provide further growth. That is why one focus I will have in the campaign is championing a raise for all teachers and not just an arbitrary number who in accepting the raise must also give up their tenure."[1]
