I'm a mom to three, a wife, an advocate, and an organizer. I always say that I was born a yinzer but I'm a South Carolinian by choice.
  • Education: Fully fund public schools and pay teachers what they deserve -- investing in education is investing in our kids.
  • Healthcare: Expand medicaid, address the shortage of nurses in South Carolina, and the lack of medical specialists in Horry County.
  • Infrastructure: Fix our crumbling infrastructure in order to keep up this level of growth and expansion.
Education, criminal justice reform, and environmental policy.
Someone from history that I respect greatly is Eleanor Roosevelt, so much so that I named my youngest daughter after her. She was a leader and a major contributor to her husband's historical and successful presidency.
I believe integrity, along with empathy, are the two most important characteristics for an elected official to possess.
My empathy, love of people, and passion for my community are what will make me a successful lawmaker.
The first major historical event that I remember being "newsworthy" was the 9/11 attack. I was in 7th grade and 12 years old at the time. I remember being in science class when it happened and then spending the rest of the day watching the news in the rest of my classes.
My first job was working at my cousin's ice cream shop that my Grandma started. I was 12, and I worked there until I turned 17.
We Don't Talk About Bruno, from Encanto, because I have a 7 year old.
Infrastructure, which we rank 36th in, flooding, and climate change, which all intersect. We have a crumbling infrastructure with some of the fastest growing areas in the nation, a flooding problem that seems to only worsen, and being on the coast puts us in a bad spot for rising sea levels.
No, in fact I think it would be more beneficial for us to have less attorneys in the legislature and more everyday folks from working class backgrounds. We need people making laws who actually understand what their constituents are going through. No one knows what the working poor and middle class needs are like the people who belong to those two groups. I believe that having no experience in government or politics can be a good thing, as long as the candidate truly cares about their community, because a fresh set of eyes that has not been entrenched with the status quo could do wonders to make progress for the people they are elected to serve.
Yes I do. I believe that there is power in community and collaboration, therefore having these relationships is the best way to be an effective legislator.
I favor an independent citizens commission for redistricting. Politicians should not get to pick their own districts or draw the lines.
I have no higher political ambitions. I just want to serve my community in Horry County representing District 61.
Yes, and there are some issues that should be non-partisan. Finding the best ways forward for our county, state, and country require common sense and collaboration, something that is sorely missing from politics today. Instead of focusing on people oriented solutions, extreme partisanship has us fighting about things that do nothing to make anyone's life better, or move our country forward. I do not believe in compromising on human rights issues, however debating the ways to solve a problem make for healthy dialogue and discussion when everyone is open to change and growth.
