Assembly website upgrades allow for greater public access

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island: The Rhode Island General Assembly has made several upgrades to its website, allowing for greater public access to the inner workings of the state legislature. The upgrades allow email updates on bills and live-streaming of floor sessions and committee hearings.[1]
House spokesman Larry Berman said that a search option that would allow the public to see all votes by an individual lawmaker is not out of the question. Berman said that after the current session other improvements will be considered and, "that is something that we will be looking at."[1]
Some states, such as South Carolina, Vermont, and Virginia, already have the option.[1]
