Alabama: Two judges have announced they will not seek re-election to the Circuit 28 Court in Baldwin County when their current terms expire. James Reid and Charles Partin have ensured that voters will select their replacements through a partisan election in 2012.[1]

James Reid is currently the Presiding Judge in the Circuit and will have retired with fourteen years of service on the court. Charles Partin has served for even longer, since 1985. Though Partin did not share his reason for retiring though he was eligible to run for another term, Reid said, "I will be 68 at the end of this term and I just didn’t feel like I could tell the voters that I would be able to serve another six-year term because I will be 74 at that time."[1]
