An Atlas Township Tax Levy Increase proposal was approved on the May 7, 2013, election ballot in Genesee County, which is in Michigan.
This measure authorized the Township of Atlas to increase its property taxes by 2.1 mills ($2.1 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for 4 years in order to fund police protection services. The estimated first year revenue from this tax increase is $565,960.[1]

| “ | Shall Atlas Township impose an increase of up to 2.1 mills ($2.10 per $1,000 of taxable value) in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution and levy it for 4 years, 2013 through 2016 inclusive, for police protection, which 2.1 mill increase will raise an estimated $565,960.00 in the first year the millage is levied. This millage replaces the previous one (1) mill Police Millage and the Police Special Assessment.[1][2] | ” |
