Audrey Van Alst is a district court judge for the 84th District Court. It serves Missaukee and Wexford counties in Michigan. She was appointed to the court by Governor Rick Snyder in October 2013 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of David A. Hogg.[1] Van Alst was elected to the court on November 4, 2014, for a six-year term, commencing on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[2]

General: She defeated Anthony Badovinac in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 58.3 percent of the vote. [2] 

Education

Van Alst received her undergraduate degree in business administration from Central Michigan University and her J.D. degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.[1]

Career

Before her appointment to the court, Van Alst served as the director of the Friend of the Court, a court system which assists and provides support for the family division of the court. She has also previously worked as an attorney in private practice, specializing in family law for sixteen years and served as a public defender for Wexford County.[1]
