Rivera ran for election to the 148th District Court.
Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on March 4, 2014, receiving 55 percent of the vote. He competed against Mark Gonzalez.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 48.2 percent of the vote. He competed against Guy Williams. [1][2]
Education
Rivera earned a bachelor's degree in history from Yale University in 1984. He went on to study law at Stanford Law School and graduate with a J.D. in 1987.[3]
