Augustin Jimenez is a judge of the Superior Court of Sacramento County in California. Jimenez assumed office on March 25, 2021. Jimenez's current term ends on January 8, 2029.
Jimenez won re-election for judge of the Superior Court of Sacramento County in California outright in the primary on June 7, 2022, after the primary and general election were canceled.
He was appointed to the court on March 25, 2021 by Gavin Newsom (D) to replace Eugene L. Balonon.[1]
Although California Superior Court judges are elected in nonpartisan elections, a press release from Gov. Newsom's office announcing Jimenez's appointment on March 25, 2021, identified him as a Democrat.[1]
Biography
Jimenez received his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law. He served as an Assistant City Attorney at the Seattle City Attorney’s Office from 1981 to 1987. He then served as a Legislative Analyst at the City of Los Angeles, Office of the Chief Legislative Analyst from 1989 to 1991. From 1992 to 1996, he was a Senior Associate at Barbosa, Garcia & Barnes, where he was a Partner from 1997 to 1999. From 1999 to 2013, he served in various positions at the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency. Directly prior to his appointment to the bench, he had served as Deputy General Counsel at the California State Transportation Agency since 2013.[1]
